Known as one of the hottest neighborhoods in all of America, Chevy Chase has a lot of expectations to fulfill. Thankfully, it does a great job. Located in the upper Northwest reaches of Washington, D.C., Chevy Chase is known for its great selection of single-family homes and tight-knit community – a suburb in the city.

Chevy Chase is often confused with its equally charming neighbor, Chevy Chase, MD. Together, these communities share a similar history that will forever bind the neighborhoods together. Nonetheless, D.C.’s Chevy Chase is still the clear winner for us should there be any competition.

Chevy Chase is particularly attractive among home buyers who are looking for a suburban lifestyle without having to leave the city. Here, you’ll find plenty of single-family homes, most of which are relatively large. The residential areas are lush, as well-groomed gardens and front lawns are the norm here.

Home styles are varied, and some of the oldest properties in Chevy Chase are also the most sought-after. You can find these residences near Connecticut Avenue, distinct for their Victorian, bungalow, or four-square styles. East from the main strip, you’ll find Colonials, Cape Cods, and Tudors, while postwar homes are prevalent near the park.

Price-wise, real estate in Chevy Chase, D.C. is comparatively more affordable than its Maryland counterpart, with homes averaging in the high $800,000s.

Transportation

The train is just a short distance away with the closest Metro station located in Friendship Heights. Meanwhile, Metro Center is just approximately 15 minutes away. You won’t have any troubles going to the station as buses frequent Chevy Chase every day. Major thoroughfares like Rock Creek Parkway and The Beltway are also nearby.

Strong business community

With its strong sense of community and its own commercial stretch, you can say that Chevy Chase is a self-sufficient neighborhood – there’s no need to venture beyond its boundaries for shopping or dining. Most locally-owned businesses, restaurants, and cafes are located in a three-block stretch south of Chevy Chase Circle. Meanwhile, stores like Saks Fifth Avenue are found in the Friendship Heights strip.
